Dr. Mark Machen
Dr. Mark Machen is a board-certified optometrist who provides eye care for all age groups. His special areas of interest include primary care optometry, hard-to-fit contact lenses, and managing ocular diseases such as dry eye disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye disease.
An Arkansas native, Dr. Machen graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in biology. Following undergraduate, Dr. Machen attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, and graduated with a Doctorate in Optometry.
While in optometry school, Dr. Machen was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society and served as the president of Omega Delta social organization. Upon graduation, Dr. Machen was awarded the “Southwest Contact Lens Society Award” which was given to the clinician who excelled in fitting and managing a variety of hard-to-fit contact lens patients.
Dr. Machen completed his retinal, corneal, cataract, and glaucoma eye disease externship training at the Memphis VA in downtown Memphis, Tennessee. His primary care and contact lens externship training were conducted at Family Vision Care in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. He completed his training at The Eye Center in Memphis, Tennessee where he became skilled in the treatment and management of ocular diseases,
